On Friday, to revamp the censor 🚫board (CBFC) the govt. set up a committee by filmmaker Shyam Benegal to recommend measures📝 to “provide a holistic framework and enable those tasked with the work of certification📜 of films 🎥 to discharge their responsibilities keeping in view this framework". The committee will recommend “broad guidelines” and “procedures”📝 under provisions of the Cinematograph Act and Rules 📜 & submit its recommendations within 2⃣months. It would be expected to take the best practices from various parts of the 🌍 and make room for creative and aesthetic expression. These and several other actions have been taken after the board was in the middle of several controversies over cuts✂ made to films ever since Pahlaj Nihalani took over as its chairperson. It was criticised for making several cuts✂ in the film Spectre👻, & blurring visuals in the movie Angry Indian Goddesses👺.
