Released on Thursday, President Pranab Mukherjee’s second volume of his memoir📙, 'The Turbulent 😓Years: 1980-96', reveals that he had never “aspired🙏 to be the interim Prime Minister,” Mukherjee said, “These stories are completely false❌ and spiteful😠.” He said being dismissed from Rajiv's Cabinet was "not even peripherally" on his mind and when he learnt of it he was “shell-shocked😱 and flabbergasted😰.” He explains: “all I can say is that he made mistakes and so did I. He let others influence him and listened to their calumnies against me. I let my frustration 😓overtake my patience.” Regarding 1984’s 'Operation Blue Star', he recalled that Indira Gandhi 👵🏻"understood the situation well and was clear that there was no other option.” Mukherjee wrote that it is easy to say that military💂🏼 action could be avoided in Blue Star, the operation to remove Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and his armed followers from the Harmandir Sahib Complex in Amritsar. However, nobody really knows if any other option would have worked.
