🌈SC to Hear 'Curative Petition' on Gay Sex

  |   India News

A new hope for the 🌈LGBT community has sprung. On 2nd Feb, the Supreme Court🏤 has agreed to examine🔎 whether it had erred in turning down👎 the plea to decriminalise gay sex in 🇮🇳 two years ago. Although the High Court🏣 in 2009 declared Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code📜 as unconstitutional for its ignorant stance on gay rights, the SC revived the provision in 2013 - a blow to gay rights in 🇮🇳. The SC had dismissed the pleas by gay rights activists to review its order, but agreed to hear a curative petition🙏 – the last judicial resort for a litigant to get his grievances heard. Finance Minister💰 Arun Jaitely has termed the SC verdict on gay sex as one of the worst👎 judgments delivered by them, but the rest of the NDA🔸 politicians may not be so eager to decriminalise it.
