PM Modi’s promise of “Housing🏠 for All” by 2022 is seeing a problem as 2.45 lakh constructed houses lie vacant in the whole country. Almost 70% of the vacant low-cost houses🏠 are in Maharashtra (52,966), Gujarat (29,126), Delhi🌆 (26,759), MP (26,004) and AP (23,688). 14 lakh houses🏠 have been constructed & sanctioned under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM), Rajiv Awas Yojana (RAY) but only 8⃣ could be built by the states. The ministry has merged all the schemes under Modi’s pet initiative: Pradhan Mantri✌ Awas Yojana (Housing for All), which aims to build 2⃣ cr houses and would include 14 lakh slum redevelopment houses. To encourage the backlog clearance of allotting vacant houses, the ministry has been holding follow-up meetings👥 regularly with the states.
