Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) back in 2001 had allegedly exposed its workers💼 to toxic mercury🌡 vapour. After several long and tedious years, they’ve finally come to a settlement✍ with the victims👥 after the suggestion of the Madras High Court🏤. HUL will provide an undisclosed ex gratia amount💰 for their future health care👷🏼 benefits on humanitarian considerations. The association’s counsel R. Vaigai said💬, “This is the first ever class action litigation moved by industrial workers against occupational health exposure.” He said that a petition invoking Article 21📜 seeking the governments to protect the life and personal liberty of the workers💼 was sent to the court🏤. A similar petition was sent to the London🌉 HC🏣 as HUL is headquartered in the UK🇬🇧.
