The government🏤 was embarrassed😟 in the Rajya Sabha🎩 when the Opposition passed an amendment to the president’s address. This has happened the 2⃣nd time in a row for the government🏤 and the 5⃣th time in the history of 🇮🇳. PM Modi had appealed to the opposition not to move the amendment as he responded to the debate on the Motion of Thanks to the President’s Address. He said💬, “I would appeal to you to withdraw the amendments and pass the motion unanimously to preserve the dignity of that office.” But Modi’s✌ speech, which was heavily anti-Congress🚫✋, had little effect. Ghulam Nabi Azad, leader of the Opposition moved the amendment, which carried with 94 votes in favour👍 and 61 against👎. Modi’s flowy & verbose speech was riddled with poetry, jests, jibes, and even outright taunts👅. He even dared Azad to give a third of Congress’ seats💺 in polls to illiterates.
