With the main phase of the ICC World T20🏆 scheduled to start on March 15th, let's turn our attention👀 to what transpired in the earlier editions of the tournament that made this a much-awaited event. We'll bring you the all the editions from 2007 till present every day.
The very 1⃣st World T20 was held in South Africa in 2007. The tournament heralded📢 the arrival of T20 cricket on to the global stage and with it the emergence of MS Dhoni as one of the best captains😎 in the shorter formats of the game. 🇮🇳 went into the tournament with a youthful side bereft of stalwarts⭐ like Sachin, Dravid and Ganguly. 🇮🇳 started the tournament with a sensational super-over victory😍 over Pakistan (game against Scotland was washed out☂) but needed the pyro-techniques💥 of Yuvraj who hit six 6⃣es of a Broad over to beat England and then South Africa in order to qualify for the semi-finals. Dhoni's men were up against a red-hot Australia😳 in the semis but a 30 ball 70 from Yuvraj and a 2⃣ wicket burst from Sreesanth would help 🇮🇳 upset👊 the Aussies. The final against Pakistan witnessed one of the most dramatic games👌 in the tournament with Misbah-ul-Haq scooping a Joginder Sharma delivery straight to Sreesanth with just 6⃣ runs to get from 4⃣ balls to gift 🇮🇳 a historic triumph🎉.
