On Monday, NCP✋ leader and ex-Maharashtra Deputy CM Chhagan Bhujbal, 68, was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate👮🏼 (ED). He was questioned for over 9⃣ hours in an alleged money laundering💸 case which allegedly caused a loss of ₹870 cr💰 to the exchequer. The arrest is a setback to the party after its major loss in the 2014 LS and assembly elections📥. His nephew, Sameer, is also under arrest👮🏼 on graft charges. Bhujbal represented the Other Backward Community (OBC) face of the NCP✋ in Maharashtra. He has found himself in trouble several times, starting with the 2002 fake Telgi stamp📩 case. However, NCP✋ leader Jayant Patil says, “The arrest of Bhujbal is shocking and smacks of political conspiracy. At a time when he was cooperating in the investigation his arrest was unfortunate.” The BJP🔸 says that the arrest was made by the ED👮🏼 and has nothing to do with politics.
