For about 30 years, DMK and AIADMK have had a stranglehold🙌 on Tamil Nadu politics. They have alternated in power and command about 60-70% of vote base and have not allowed smaller parties to become a threat⚠. But there were signs of change in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections🗳 - NDA bagged 2⃣ seats and got 18.5% vote share👍. Actor Vijayakanth's DMDK also decided not to ally with any of the two major parties, giving an indication that the elections this time around would not be a 2⃣ horse race👍. In addition to these three alignments, Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) and the Vaiko-led People's Welfare Front (PWF), which includes Vaiko's MDMK and the two Left parties, are also significant players in the coming elections😳.
