In Handwara, J&K, the Army opened fire🔫 on a stone-pelting mob👥 protesting the molestation of a girl by Army personnel😯. This resulted in the death of 2⃣ youth. J&K CM Mehbooba🙎🏻 said that the personnel involved in the killing will be punished😡 due to the "negative impact" on the state government's efforts to consolidate peace🙏 in the area. An inquiry🔎 has been ordered by the Army, J&K Police👮🏼 have registered a criminal case against them. A police spokesman said that soon after the protests✊ began the public surrounded the Army bunker🏟 in Handwara chowk and attacked it, while assaulting👊 the personnel there and then set it on fire🔥. He said that the security forces fired🔫 in retaliation to disperse the violent mob. However, he said💬, “In the process, two individuals —Mohammad Iqbal and Nayeem Qadir Bhat sustained firearm injuries. They were evacuated to hospital where they, unfortunately, succumbed to their injuries." He added that the police deeply 😔"regrets the loss of life." The Kashmir valley has been shut down⛔ and a curfew🚫 has been imposed in the area.
