When Burundi President👔 Pierre Nkurunziza decided to claim a third🙄 term in office against the constitutional arrangements, the country went back into turmoil😓. Freedom of the press🎥 is a major issue in the nation, but Burundians are now using WhatsApp💬 to get to their news. Many of the country’s journalists✍ have been forced out, and radio stations📡 have shut down. Reporters Without Borders ranks Burundi 156th out of 180 countries in its press freedom index📊. However, this is the mobile generation📱 and WhatsApp💬, Facebook👤 and Twitter🐦 have replaced radio📻. Since the government can’t function without mobile networks, they’re continuing to work in the midst of the crisis⚠. People are being informed and even if some stories are untrue, something is still better than nothing. Now only if we could help North Korea🇰🇵.
