The Plateau State Government has imposed a 24-hour curfew in Bokkos Local Government Area following the killing of two protesting youths by security personnel.
The Commissioner of Police, Plateau State Command, Mr. Olatunde Oladunjoye, who confirmed the development, said that the two men were killed when they tried to prevent men of the Special Task Force from evacuating some persons trapped in the area as a result of a riot triggered by Agai’s murder.
Oladunjoye explained that after a visit to the area, the Deputy Inspector-General of of Police in charge of operations, Joseph Habila, a security meeting was held at the government House and the decision to impose the curfew was taken.
Ikedichi Iweha, told our correspondent that those killed died in a crossfire when protesting youths tried to prevent security personnel from evacuating people, including a Fulani leader from the scene of the protest.
“The curfew was imposed so also as to allow personnel to carry out the main task of fishing out the perpetrators of the act,” he said.
