After no Indian swimmer😟 achieved the Olympic Qualification Time⏱ (OQT) required for an automatic berth in the quadrennial extravaganza, India was awarded Universality places (one man and one woman) by FINA (International Swimming Federation) for Rio 2016👏. Following which, Swimming Federation of India announced📢 that Sajan Prakash and Shivani Katariya will represent India at the games👍. It is to be noted that the Kerala-born Sajan was chosen ahead of seasoned campaigners👌 like Sandeep Sejwal and Virdhawal Khade. Sajan will participate in the 200m butterfly event🏊. He is also the first Indian to dip under the 2-minute mark in the event✋. Shivani will take part in the 200m freestyle.
