💪Yogeshwar Dutt's Gold Medal🏅a Possibility‼

  |   India News

💪Yogeshwar Dutt's 2012 Olympic bronze medal in wrestling👊 was upgraded to silver last month, after Besik Kudukhov's sample tested positive➕ for doping💉. Reports have emerged that gold medalist Toghrul Asgrov of Azerbaijan too had tested positive for prohibited substances😮 and thus Dutt could even receive the gold medal🏅. There has been no official confirmation📢 from the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI).
Even if it confirmed that Asgrov tested positive, Dutt receiving the gold medal isn't quite straight forward🤔. Asgrov had defeated the other bronze medallist, Coleman Scott of USA🇺🇸 en-route to his gold medal. So, according to the repechage rules, it would be Scott who would get the first right to get upgraded. The rule was followed in the case of Yogeshwar earlier as he was defeated by silver medalist Kudukhov. However, an upgradation⬆ to gold from bronze is quite unlikely and experts are suggesting a relook at the bronze-medal winning bouts and decide on the basis of technical points.
Everything hinges on official confirmation Asgarov’s positive test and clean chits✅ to both Yogeshwar and Scott in the re-tests.
