Steyn goes off with shoulder trouble

Dale Steyn left the field 42 minutes before lunch on the second day at the WACA clutching his right shoulder, which was broken last season and had kept him out of the England Tests.

Later it was confirmed that the pacer has been ruled out of the series. Scans confirmed a fracture to the bone in the shoulder.

Morne Morkel, who sat out the New Zealand Tests with a back injury, was left out of the XI for this match because of concerns over his match readiness but could be an option for the remaining two matches should Steyn need to sit out. Kyle Abbot is the other pacer in the squad.
