Mumbai City 0⃣ - 1⃣ Pune City
Pune - E. Lyngdoh 89'
A late minute goal secured✌ Pune a much-needed victory against Mumbai.
Sunil Chhetri and Diego Forlan started combining from the very beginning itself but Mumbai dealt a blow when Leo Costa had to be substituted in the 8' due to a groin injury. Though Mumbai were clearly the better side, they were unable to play to their expectations. Only half chances were created by both teams. The only clear opportunity came after the half hour mark when Forlan found Matias Defederico . But the Argentine's left-footed shot was blocked by Pune's keeper Apoula Edel.
The 2⃣nd half was similar to the 1⃣st. Mumbai continued to be the dominant side but were never able to carve Pune open. In the 75', Forlan almost scored the opener through a free kick. His right footed shot from outside the box was denied by the crossbar after getting a touch from Edel. Towards the end, Mumbai created several chances but wasted all of them. The home side paid for their mistakes in the 89' when substitute Eugeneson Lyngdoh gave Pune the lead. Mumbai's keeper👋 Albino Gomes made a mess of Narayan Das' cross into the box and Lyngdoh, who found himself with the ball in the centre of the box, slammed it⚽ into the back of the net. The visitors made sure to hold on to the lead and secure 3⃣ ✨valuable points.
