Trump Victory: European markets up

It may have been suggested a Donald Trump victory could lead to recession, then eventual doom for all of humanity – but now the markets have an idea of what they're in for, they're actually pretty cheerful.

The FTSE 100 was up almost one per cent, tantalisingly close to 7,000 points, while France’s Cac 40 was up one per cent at 4,592 points, and Germany’s Dax was up 1.1 per cent, at 10,766 points.

Overnight, the Dow Jones index closed 1.4 per cent higher, at 18,589 points, while the S&P 500 finished 1.1 per cent higher, at 2,163 points.
