England go into the break with a 1⃣-0⃣ lead against Scotland.
Gareth Southgate👔 gave Wayne Rooney⭐ & Daniel Sturridge a start and chose to leave the likes of Vardy, Kane & Rashford on the bench for the UK derby.
The match had a scrappy start and both teams were tentative on the ball. Raheem Sterling⚡ had a legit claim for a penalty in the initial minutes after going down because of a challenge from Wallace but the referee👕 chose not to award the spot kick. After a few attacks that fizzled out on top of either penalty boxes, Sturridge⚽ gave England the lead with a header from close range. Kyle Walker latched on to a loose ball and swung a perfect cross💫 right across the goal and the striker's glancing header flew into the net. Scotland had a chance to equalise at the half hour mark but the Hanley failed to keep his header down, 6 yards from goal😳. Before halftime, Danny Rose had a penalty shout but the fullback seemed to had gone to ground too easily for the official's liking.
The first half has been drab and lacking in quality.
