Brazil have managed to score twice before half time against a lacklustre Argentina side.
The game started in frantic fashion and both teams conceded possession in their bids for an early goal. Alisson Becker made a wonderful save to keep out Lucas Bigilia's shot from 20 yards. Five minutes later, Phillipe Coutinho gave the Selecao the lead with a scorcher of a goal. It was a characteristic strike from the Liverpool man as he cut inside from the left and let fly a shot that arrowed into the top corner. Brazil played with more flair after the goal and dictated the game.
Lionel Messi has had to drop deep to receive the ball and so his influence in the game has been reduced to a couple of tame freekicks.
Just before the break, Neymar doubled the advantage with his 50th goal for his country. He ghosted in past the defence to receive Gabriel Jesus' pass and slotted it past the keeper Romero.
Argentina have laboured through the first half and will look to bring in the likes of Banega, Dybala & Aguero to turn this one around. On the other hand, Tite will be pleased with the home side's performance and will look for more of the same,
