"I’m ecstatic!" said Richard Quinn, the 26-year-old winner of the H&M Design Award 2017, which was announced today at the company’s central London showroom. The designer’s prize includes approximately $53,000, a yearlong mentorship, and the opportunity to develop pieces for an H&M collection in stores next fall.
It's certainly a timely win for Quinn, a 2016 Central Saint Martins grad who has just founded his own studio close to where he grew up in south London.
Clearly overcome by the experience, and clutching an enormous bouquet of cream-colored flowers, Quinn was flanked by a judging panel featuring Yasmin Sewell (Style.com), Pernille Teisbaek (Social Zoo), Zanita Whittington (creator of Azalle and Zanita Studio), Imran Amed (Business of Fashion), and Hannah Jinkins (a former winner), along with H&M's Margareta van den Bosch and Ann-Sofie Johansson.
