NZ 289/4 (Taylor 102, Neesham 71, Williamson 69, Pretorious 2-40) beat RSA 283/9 (Pretorius 50, QDK 51; Boult 3-63)
South Africa went down fighting in the final ODI against New Zealand in Christchurch, after being set a target of 290. The Proteas seemed out of the game when they slumped to 214/7. However, Dane Pretorius dragged them back into the game with a whirlwind half-century. Batting for only the 2nd time in his ODI career, the all-rounder smashed 50 in 26 balls and brought them within 15 runs off the target with an over to go. However, a yorker-laden final 2 overs from Tim Southee & Trent Boult prevented the visitors from stealing a late win and levelled the series 1⃣-1⃣.
Earlier, Ross Taylor became New Zealand's leading ODI century-maker, and the country's quickest batsman to reach 6000 runs in the process, joining forces with Jimmy Neesham to add an unbroken 123 as they put up a competitive total.
Taylor equalled Nathan Astle's 16 centuries against Australia, at Hamilton, earlier this month and reached today's hundred with a boundary off the final ball of the innings.
The two teams will clash in the 3rd ODI at Wellington on 25th Feb.
