🎥Naam Shabana

Duta Rating ⭐⭐(2/5)

The makers of 'Baby', too inspired by the adrenaline rush generated by Shabana in her cameo in the film, decided to make this women empowerment film (that's the theme of the time, right?). Here, Akshay plays a cameo and gives the film's dulling moments a break. Shabana is a special agent, out to assassinate the death-dealing arms dealer. The stellar cast puts in an earnest effort, however, blame a lacklustre plot on ruining it. It's haywire, and as meandering as a cat-and-mouse chase can get.

🎥A Dog's Purpose

Duta Rating ⭐⭐(2/5)

This film plays on all the dog-hero movie cliches there are, and comes out as tearjerker you did not need. From saving people from burning buildings to rescuing a drowning kid to nudging a lonely woman to finding love, Bailey the dog does it all during the several lifetimes he's reincarnated. Now, Bailey's on a quest to seek the answer to the ultimate question - what's the purpose of his life? Unfortunately, the audience comes out answering what's the ultima purpose of Kleenex instead.

Duta Rating ⭐⭐(2/5)

So impassioned was Rahul Bose by the story of the Adivasi girl from Telangana who, at 13, became the youngest girl in history to climb Mt. Everest, that he decided to return to direction after fifteen years to tell her gritty tale. Only, he takes that passion too far, and becomes a smothering mentor in the film whose earnestness makes you avert your eyes. The film abounds in cliches like "a great mountain deserves a great climber". The innocence and interactions between Poorna and her friend Priya are the watchable parts of this film, that has failed to scale its peak.

🎥The Boss Baby

Duta Rating ⭐⭐(/5)

Here's a character that won hearts with the trailer - a suited boss-baby, who'd give his big-bro the boots; he's more than meets the eye - he's on a mission from Baby Corp. to thwart Forever Puppy, who steals the love reserved for saucer-eyed babies. But the film engages only intermittently, with a few good jokes, some visual stunners and Baldwin's fun voiceover, that in parts will gather laughs from children and adults and does not follow through.
