Sevilla have confirmed that their renowned sporting director Monchi is leaving the club amid rumours he has agreed to join Roma.
The former goalkeeper, who has signed the likes of Dani Alves and Ivan Rakitic and brought through Sergio Ramos and Jesus Navas, among others, from the club's academy, has been in his current role for over 16 years.
And Monchi has reportedly been offered the chance to spearhead the construction of their next team, with Francesco Totti and Daniele De Rossi ageing and Kostas Manolas, Antonio Rudiger and Radja Nainggolan expected to attract interest from other clubs this summer.
After winning promotion back to the Primera Division in his first season at the helm, Monchi has helped Sevilla to win the UEFA Cup and Europa League in five out of the 11 years it has been on offer since 2005.
