A common criticism of current Korean fashion is that it lacks real identity, something this new wave of exhibiting designers is directly combating. Chief among them is Kanghyuk Choi, a Royal College of Art graduate whose MA collection famously recycled airbags to construct futuristic sportswear.

This season, he turned again to the unexpected material to make white hooded jackets and track pants embroidered with red thread and running serial numbers, then wittily showed the cool collection in a refrigerated storage unit, tucked in a far-off marketplace.
