Rowdy crowds and banditry attacks in Elgeyo Marakwet almost marred Jubilee campaigns for the second time on Tuesday.
In Marakwet East, a man was shot dead on Tuesday afternoon by suspected Pokot bandits moments before President Uhuru Kenyatta and DP William Ruto arrived.
But area police boss Lemmy Njiru said the bandits were repulsed by both regular police and reservists.
During the rally in Iten, Ruto was shouted down by crowds when he endorsed Governor Alex Tolgos. Uhuru watched helplessly as residents chanted in support of independent candidate Moses Changwony.
"We will take care of Changwony, don't worry about him. We don't want him (Changwony) to divide our country. I plead with you to support Tolgos," Ruto said in an attempted to quell the crowd.
