Netherlands have gained a consolation win in final game of their three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe at Hague on Saturday.
Having already lost the series before this game, Netherlands were out to avoid a blanking and got off to a great start after being out in to bat. Powered by Myburgh (33) and Rippon (71), they racked up 279 runs in 50 overs. Some late hitting from Sikander Zulfiqar also helped. Chris Mpofu (4/41) was the star for Zimbabwe with the ball but the others did not back him up.
Zimbabwe's chase was doomed from the beginning as they tumbled like ninepins and found themselves reeling at 65/7 with Shane Snater and Fred Klaasen running through the top order. If not for Malcolm Waller (50), Zimbabwe would never have crossed the 100-run mark. Former South African bowler Roelof van der Merwe then cleaned up the tail as Netherlands notched a 149 run win.
