Kiambu Jubilee Governor candidate Ferdinand Waititu wants police officers who can speak and understand Kikuyu deployed in the county ahead of the August general election. The Kabete MP, in his request to Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet, said this will be the only way that the police will be able to work well with locals.
"All the police bosses in Kiambu do not understand the local language," he said on Thursday. The legislator cited Kikuyu where the DCIO, OCPD, OCS are from other communities. "They cannot communicate with locals who now feel they are locked out of the police stations. The deployment is the only way our people will effectively communicate to the police and therefore boost security," Waititu said.
The MP will be facing off with incumbent William Kabogo who is defending his seat as an independent candidate.
