Lecturers have given the government up to Friday midnight to implement their 2013-17 CBA, failure of which they will go on strike on Monday. The CBA which expires at midnight allocates Sh10 billion to lecturers and non-teaching staff of three university unions, for the adjustment of their salaries and house allowances.
The amount was to be shared by University Academic Staff Union, Kenya University Staff Union and KUDHEDHIA, which is the Kenya Union of Domestic Hotels, Educational Institutions, Hospitals and Allied Workers.
Kusu secretary general Charles Mukhwaya said: "They ought to have informed our members by now that money is in their accounts. The highest paid will take home 250,592, up from Sh211,753 Housing allowances for professors will hike from 70,889 to Sh73,715 while those for associate professors will increase to Sh66,344 from 63,800.
