Anne Waiguru has asked Auditor General Edward Ouko for an "urgent special financial audit" in Kirinyaga after reports Sh1.2 billion cannot be accounted for. The new Governor's office claims more than Sh1.2 billion was either syphoned a few days after Jubilee Party nominations or paid out to fictitious companies associated with senior administrators.
The Jubilee county boss said the audit will give her office an accurate and critical perspective on the county's financial status. "I would like your office to carry urgent and special audit on the financial status of the county of Kirinyaga. Pay attention to finances and human resources committee," reads part of her letter Ouko.
The letter obtained by The Star is dated August 28. The auditors were asked to look into commitments for the last eight months of Joseph Ndathi's administration.
