Lewis Hamilton says while he is still motivated to continue in Formula 1 for at least another few years, he still has no desire to try and beat Michael Schumacher’s record seven championships.

The four-time champion in only three behind the German’s tally, but has also reiterated his aspiration to move into a new career once he retires from the sport.

Hamilton, who will turn 33 at the beginning of 2018, believes matching Juan Manuel Fangio’s five titles is a more realistic target.

Asked if he thought he could potentially surpass Schumacher’s seven championships, Hamilton said: “I can’t see it at the moment. Four more. It has taken me 10 years to achieve this four.

“I don’t have that desire to match it. Matching Fangio could be quite cool. Being that I am going to be here for at least another couple of years, that is my goal to try and at least get that.”
