The man accused in the Jisha rape and murder case was today found guilty by a sessions court in Kerala's Ernakulam.
The case pertains to the brutal rape and murder of Jisha, a law student from Perumbavoor on April 28, 2016.
Islam was the only person accused of murder. He was a native of Assam, who had left his home at the age of 10, according to his family.
The trial in the case took 85 days. As many as 100 witnesses, including 15 migrant labourers, were examined by the prosecution which also presented circumstantial evidences before the court against Islam.
The prosecution presented as many as 290 documents and 36 material evidences and the defence counsel examined five witnesses.
