ANC spokesperson Zizi Kodwa says the ruling party will not take any part in assisting President Jacob Zuma with coughing up the legal costs accrued through his challenge of the release of the State Capture report.
Following Wednesday’s landmark ruling at the North Gauteng High Court, Zuma was ordered to pay the costs of his failed bid to halt the report out of his own purse.
Speaking during an interview on eNCA on Wednesday, Kodwa said the ANC welcomes the decision by the court.
Kodwa said the ANC national executive committee decided, a while back, to establish a commission of inquiry to verify these allegations.
According to Kodwa, the ANC views the commission of inquiry as the best way to address these allegations, but without standing in the way of Zuma appealing the judgment should he wish to do so in his personal capacity.
