NZ - 291 (Williamson 100, Ronchi 65; Hazelwood 6-52)
New Zealand have made a strong start to their Champions Trophy campaign by posting a formidable total against rivals Australia in their opening game, despite faltering towards the end.
Kiwis won the toss and have managed to score 291 in 45 overs.
Talisman Kane Williamson top scored with a splendid ton. After a rain interruption at the start of the innings, the game was reduced to a 46 overs/side. Luke Ronchi gave the ideal start with a quick fire 65(43) against his former team. His blitz allowed Williamson & Ross Taylor to bide their time before launching into an assault. Williamson cut loose with 12 overs to go and reached his 9th century. The Aussie pacers pulled things back at the end, conceding just 37 runs in the final 6 overs and picking up 5 wickets. The Kiwis were bowled out with an over still remaining. Hazelwood was the star for the Aussies, finishing with excellent figures. The pacer took 3 wickets in the final over of the innings.
Australia boast of an explosive batting lineup who will take the attack to the opposition. They will be up against a fiery pace attack of Southee, Milne & Boult. It should be a terrific contest.
