Google says Chrome will include a built-in ad blocker beginning in early 2018

In a blog post today, Google announced that it will start including an "ad filter" in Chrome early next year as it looks to build "a better web for everyone."

The new feature won't block every ad, instead, it will block ones that are deemed unacceptable by a group known as the Coalition for Better Ads, which includes Google, Facebook, News Corp, and The Washington Post.

In dialogue with the Coalition and other industry groups, we plan to have Chrome stop showing ads (including those owned or served by Google) on websites that are not compliant with the Better Ads Standards starting in early 2018.
