Studio Ghibli to Open Anime🎠 Theme Park🎢

  |   Hollywood

Studio Ghibli is to open a theme park based on its iconic anime films in the early 2020s on the site of the 2005 World Expo near Nagoya.

The first phase of the park, which will be developed in partnership with the local Aichi Prefecture government, will be based on Hayao Miyazaki's perennially popular 1988 hit My Neighbor Totoro. A house modeled on the anime already sits on the 200-hectare site, having been built for the Expo.

A Legoland Japan opened on April 1 this year in Nagoya and has already announced 25 percent family discounts on its ticket prices after complaints that entry fees, at $218.50 (¥24,400) for a family of four, were higher than those for Tokyo Disneyland and Osaka's Universal Studios Japan.
