Novak Djokovic struggled his way into the French Open final 16 after a torrid five-set fight with Argentinian Diego Schwartzman.
The 30-year-old didn’t have it all his own way during the 5-7, 6-3, 3-6, 6-1, 6-1 win battling a grumpy mood and a chair umpire who wasn’t going to be pushed around.
Djokovic picked up a code violation for unsportsman-like conduct when he raised his racquet at the umpire and muttered words in Serbian as he battled mental demons.
The second seed lost it when he was penalised for his behaviour.
“What the hell is wrong with you? What’s wrong with you? What did I say? What did I say? What did I say? Why did you give me warning? What? Do you understand Serbian or what?” Djokovic asked.
