England made their way to the semis with an easy win🎉 over New Zealand by 87 runs. The Kiwis now have to defeat Bangladesh and pray🙏 England beat Australia to clinch the 2nd spot in the group.
Asked to bat first, the home team were bowled out for 310. Alex Hales(56) & Joe Root⭐(64) laid a strong foundation & 💪Jos Buttler(61) provided a late boost to ensure a good total. Adam Milne & Corey Anderson picked up 3⃣ wickets each for New Zealand.
Jake Ball⚡ provided the ideal start in the 2nd innings by dismissing Luke Ronchi for a duck with a sharp inswinger. Skipper Kane Williamson⭐ walked in and took charge of the chase. He kept his team in the hunt with a well-compiled half-century(87). Mark Wood provided the crucial breakthrough by having Williamson nick one☝ to Buttler in the 30th over. Things went downhill for the Kiwis after that, as the rest of the batsmen pushed and prodded till they were bundled out for 223 with 5.3 overs to spare.
After an indifferent bowling display in the opening game, the English bowlers responded with a disciplined performance.
