The Intercept is reporting that Russian intelligence executed a cyber-attack on at least one U.S. voting software supplier and sent spear-phishing emails to more than 100 local election officials last November.
According to the document leaked to The Intercept, this capped a months-long Russian intelligence cyber effort against elements of the U.S. election and voting infrastructure.
To date, there has been no evidence that Russia hacked election infrastructure. This story changes that understanding.
Additionally, it has also been reported today that the person who leaked the document to The Intercept was arrested by law enforcement in the US.
