President of India 🇮🇳 Election 🗳 on July 17

The Election Commission of India is announcing the schedule of the upcoming election of the fourteenth President of India. The election will be held on July 17. President Pranab Mukherjee's term expires in July. Congress President Sonia Gandhi has been seeking the support of other opposition parties to decide on a candidate they can all agree on.

Here are the highlights of the press conference by Chief Election Commissioner Nasim Zaidi.

  • No political party or politician can give a gift to any MP or MLA in relation to the matter of the Presidential election.
  • Counting of votes will be held in New Delhi.
  • June 14 - Notification to be issued by EC
  • June 28 - Last date to make nomination
  • June 29 - Date for scrutiny of nomination
  • July 1 - Last day to withdraw nomination
  • July 17 - Date of Election
  • July 20 - Counting of votes
