Rain⛈ delayed the start to the crunch game of Group B. Both New Zealand🇳🇿 & Bangladesh🇧🇩 need to win this game in order to harbour any hopes of making it to the Semis.
Sun☀ shone soon enough at Cardiff to prevent any deduction of overs and the Kiwis opted to bat first.
Both the openers, Martin Guptill & Luke Ronchi failed to convert their starts. Kane Williamson⭐ stepped up once again and went about his business with ease😎. He notched his 3rd 50+score of the tournament in as many matches before he ran himself out😖 while attempting a near-impossible single. Ross Taylor consumed quite a few deliveries to score a patient half-century. Going into the final ten overs, the Kiwis had 6⃣ wickets in hand and looked set to score 300. However, the Bangladeshi bowlers hit back strongly👊 and restricted the Kiwis. Mortaza's decision💡 to bring on offspinner Mosaddek💫 proved to be master-stroke as he picked up 3-13 in a 3-over spell. All-rounders, Neesham, Anderson & Santner couldn't find the big hits and New Zealand laboured to finish at an underwhelming 265/8.
Bangladesh would be fairly confident👍 of chasing down this below par score. The pace-reliant⚡ New Zealand attack need to strike early to make a match out of this one.
