Weeks after filmmaker Ketan Mehta sent a legal notice to actress Kangan Ranaut for allegedly ‘hijacking’ his film on Rani Lakshmibai, he has reportedly approached the Mumbai Police’s Economic Offences Wing to book the actress for “cheating and breach of trust”.
Mehta alleges that he and his team were in talks with Kangana for over a decade to star in his film ‘Rani of Jhansi: The Warrior Queen’. However, the two reportedly had a fallout after Kangana herself announced a new biopic ‘Manikarnika – the Queen of Jhansi’ that is being directed by Radha Krishna Jagarlamudi alias Krish.
Mehta also claims that he has suffered a loss of Rs 9 crore because of her actions. The filmmaker has submitted a written complaint, seeking an FIR into the matter. The report states that a probe is on and that Kangana will be summoned to record her statement.
