Gabriel Jesus has been ruled out of Brazil's Chevrolet Brasil Global Tour clash with Australia on Tuesday after tests in a Melbourne hospital discovered he has suffered an orbital fracture to his eye socket.

The Manchester City forward was injured in a clash with club-mate Nicolas Otamendi during Brazil’s 1-0 defeat to Argentina on Friday.

The 20-year-old momentarily lost consciousness following the collision, which saw Otamendi leap over the top of Jesus in an aerial challenge and connect with a stray elbow.

Jesus was taken to hospital immediately after match, initially as a precautionary measure, with Brazil reporting no fracture had been found.

However, further tests on Saturday proved the injury slightly more serious than originally thought.
