Gambhir eyes mentor's role in TNPL

Gautam Gambhir has won a lot as a player. Now he is planning to don the mentor's hat for the first time in his career.

The twice World Cup winner and two-time IPL winning captain Gambhir is looking to be part of the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) in the coming season as a 'mentor'. The former India opener told ToI that he is in talks with quite a few franchises, but a final decision hasn't been taken. "Yes, I am in talks with a few franchises for a mentoring role," Gambhir said.

However, Gambhir made it clear that he won't be playing in the tournament. "This tournament is for up and coming Indian youngsters. It is a platform for the local talent. I don't want to block a young talent by playing in TNPL," he added.
