Tendai Hombiro and Moses Nyango who were employed by the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (Zimra) at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport have been sentenced to 27 months prison after they undercharged goods belonging to Eristinah Gumbo, wife of Minister of Energy and Power Development, Joram Gumbo.
The pair was found to have flouted Zimra procedures by not weighing Eristinah’s goods before charging duty.
They were initially sentenced to 36 months of prison for criminal abuse of office. However, 9 months were suspended on account of their good behaviour.
The court heard that Eristinah raised alarm after she was charged only $489 instead of $1 936 in May this year.
