Gloucester came up with a six-try performance as they went on to defeat Worcester Warriors 36-16 in their Gallagher Premiership encounter at Kingsholm on Saturday.

The win has taken Gloucester to the third position in the table with 28 points while Worcester are at eighth place with 17 points.

The first quarter was dominated by the hosts with James Hanson going over the line in the 13th minute and Charlie Sharples followed with another four minutes later. It was also the ninth try of the season for the winger. Danny Cipriani had a struggling start as he missed both the conversions and a penalty as Gloucester had a 10-0 lead.

The response from Worcester Warriors came through Duncan Weir, who kicked three penalty goals in the remainder of the first half to bring down the gap to just one point but Chris Pennell missed a long-range kick as the teams headed into the break with a 10-9 scoreline.

The Cherry and Whites were quick to get off the block in the second half with Thorley and Freddie Clarke crossing over in the 47th and 53rd minutes and their momentum got a shot in the arm when Pennell was yellow-carded in the 57th minute.

Gloucester made full use of the numerical advantage with further tries from Thorley (61') and replacement Jaco Visagie (58') before a consolation try from Bryce Heem helped Worcester reduce their losing margin to 20 points.
