Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has said the first five kidney transplants at the newly fixed renal centre in Mbagathi hospital will be free.
The dialysis machines at the hospital were fixed two days ago ahead of the first ever such surgery to be conducted at the facility.
"The team of surgeons from India will be assisted by our very own specialists who have been undergoing training," the governor said.
Sonko said he is aware of the enormous challenges that the county government currently faces as they offer renal care.
In addition, Sonko said the county government is in the process of installing eight dialysis machines at Mama Lucy Hospital.
