Madhya Pradesh home minister calls for ban on porn sites

Madhya Pradesh home minister Bhupendra Singh Thakur said on Monday that pornography is an incitement to rape and the state government through a letter to the Centre has demanded an immediate ban on such sites. Singh also disclosed that Madhya Pradesh government has so far banned 25 such porn sites.

"A study conducted by the state's home department revealed that pornography is corroding childhood. Boys and girls are easily influenced by the pornography and have easy access to such erotic sites and materials. This is provoking crimes like rape and sexual assault", said Bhupendra Singh while talking to reporters, on Monday.

The home minister further said that Madhya Pradesh government has so far banned 25 porn sites and also shot a missive to the Central government for an immediate action to curb such sites in order to control crimes and increasing rape incidents. "We have urged the Central government through a letter to ban all such porn sites and enact a strict law to control such illegality,” said the home minister expressing concern over spate in sexual assault cases by teenagers.
