Responding to a question on why the MDC-T led by Nelson Chamisa has not announced a day for primary elections, national secretary for elections Murisi Zwizwai said they delaying announcing the dates to avoid infiltration by Zanu-PF.

He said this during an interview hosted by Ruvheneko Parirenyatwa on Capitalk FM on Monday evening.

When asked when MDC-T will hold primary elections Zwizwai said:

"We are working on the candidate selection process…We are going to have a National Standing Committee tomorrow at 10 o’clock so that we give a report regarding the progress that we would have made. It is in the standing committee that we will come up with the timelines, probably it should be inside the next two weeks. In the process we are still working on the consensus where candidates should engage themselves and see if they can talk to each other so that we come up with one candidate."
