The prototype of one of the highly anticipated adventure bikes has been spotted testing in Europe. First unveiled as the T7 concept, which later went on to become the Tenere 700 World Raid prototype, this Yamaha adventure bike is expected to be ready for the world in the next few months.
Based on the streetfighter, the MT-07, the Tenere 700 is expected to play a major role in the growing middle-weight adventure bike segment. It is rumoured to be the lightest in the class, along with the ability to do some intense off-roading. It will be powered by the same 689cc parallel-twin engine that powers the MT-07. This mill produces 75bhp at 6500rpm and peak torque of 68Nm. However, the motor will be heavily revised to have a strong low and mid-range to suit bike’s nature.
The spied prototype which was heavily camouflaged had a low seat height. This makes us believe that Yamaha would offer various seat options for this bike, depending on the market it goes to. The concept bike was applauded for its slim styling and the same has been carried to its prototype.
We’re expecting a global unveil either at the 2018 Intermot or the 2018 EICMA show. Unfortunately, Yamaha India is unlikely to bring this bike to the country as the focus of the company is getting volumes which will only come from scooters and motorcycles.
