Around 150 Indians, a majority of them senior citizens, have been stranded for the past five hours without food and water in a non-descript place in Tibet after a road was washed away due to incessant rain. The pilgrims, who were returning home, were stranded somewhere between Saga and Kerung towns, said Venkatasubramanian one of the Indians stuck there.
Six buses and a few SUVs were stuck on the road without being able to move back or forward as the road had been washed away in the floods, he said. There was an ongoing construction of a bridge and traffic was moving through an old road which got washed away, he said. The stranded tourists were unable to contact the Indian embassy in China due to poor network connections, he said.
